A must read for designers of all disciplines. Botton has an uncanny and remarkable ability to write so eloquently the human experience in relation to our surroundings. A few pages in, Botton asks, what I think, is the very foundation of why architecture and/or design exists and why the disciplines are such an integral part of our everyday lives. Botton line…BUY THIS BOOK!

Its a question that presents itself whenever we inhabit that cookie cutter apartment with pink based white walls and linoleum flooring. Or one of the many little boxes of suburbia. Its the death of the spirit for most of us…at least it is for me. Uninspiring Spaces Breed Boredom.
